The Story Behind Telemarketing Calls

What many people don’t realize is that the telemarketing industry routinely violates several Federal laws by contacting you on your cell phone and landline and that you can actually be compensated $500 – $1500 for each time they call you.  Specifically, when a telemarketer calls without your permission they are violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) if they use any type of automation in their process such as an autodialer, using recorded messages, or predictive dialers.  If when you pick up the phone you hear a pause before you are directed to a salesperson/telemarketer – changes are they are using an autodialer.  If you have not given them permission to use this then they are violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
